This project involves the development of resonating bean microelectromechanical systems (MEMS) and electrochemical pH sensor chips suitable for inclusion in cell culture flasks or storage vials that communicate with a handheld reader and provides a signal when the cell culture medium is outside a specified pH range. The sensors will involve pH-responsive polymer brushes onto piezo- and/or electrochemical transducers.
