Cancer research isn’t just about cancer. In a paper published this week, CTET CIs from various disciplines investigated a number of factors that influence decision-making in postmastectomy breast reconstruction. They examined level of knowledge of individuals involved, duration of consultation time and perception of patient involvement. Significant differences were found in the perception of patient involvement from the patients, to the surgeons and nurses. This indicates that many women feel or believe that their surgeon made decisions on their behalf when it came to reconstruction.
