The overarching objective of this project is to validate a novel hydrogel system as a physiologically relevant model for the maintenance and propagation of human patient-derived primary cells and tissues. It is hypothesised that the hydrogels will allow for the extended culture of breast, bladder and lung cells and tissue slices. The successful completion of this project will lead to a novel commercial 3D hydrogel and potential tool for researchers and pharmaceutical companies to develop novel drugs.
